Christmas Party

Tonight was the Christmas Party for our Transitions group and it was terrific.   Have I mentioned that I am STILL the only guy in the group?  Now there are worse things of course...but it is a cruel irony to be this close to so many single women and all of them "off limits" since I'm one of the group leaders!

We did the Chinese gift exchange tonight...and I wound up with a book.  The Ladies' Room Reader .  Naturally the women got a laugh out of that.

Late today I had one of those creative moments that comes along now and again...so on top of all the getting the house ready for the party, I had to make time to write a song.  Sung to the tune of "Winter Wonderland" my song is "Walking through this world a single man."  Frankly it is pretty funny.  I hope to present it for whoever gathers at Frank's for Christmas.

One of our group announced her "graduation" tonight.  Later she sent a terrifically sweet note to Jackie (my co-leader) and me.  While it is sad to see our friend move on...it is a celebration too.  Transitions was never intended to be a destination, but a loving place to pass through on one's way to being confident and comfortable as newly single.

Tonight was a special and terrific way to celebrate the season.  I hope you are as blessed as I am.
